Behaviour Consultations

Who is it For?

Behaviour Consultations provide an in-depth evaluation of your dog’s current behaviour plus a comprehensive Behaviour Modification Plan to put you on the right track for resolving behavioural issues. Behaviour Consultations are ideal for any guardian struggling with an on-going issue which is not covered under our “puppy program” or “key skills” curriculum and therefore, needs to be tailored to your dog’s unique situation. These issues commonly include (but are not limited to):

  • Fear / Anxiety

  • Aggression

  • Destruction

  • Barking

  • Handling Sensitivity

  • Resource Guarding

  • Leash Reactivity (lunging & barking on leash)

  • Hyperarousal (excessive jumping, nipping, mouthing or humping)

Once a Behaviour Modification Plan is in place, we can continue working with you via Private Coaching.

Issues covered in our Key Skills curriculum (loose leash walking, recall, settle etc) do not require a tailored plan and students may work with us through Private Coaching without taking a Behaviour Consultation first.

Our Process:

1) Comprehensive intake form to be filled out prior to our session. This form provides in-depth information on your dog’s behaviour, so we can begin to prepare your assessment.

2) 90 minute in-person or online consultation. This covers:

  • Intake form Review

  • Risk Assessment

  • Management Plan (Risk Reduction)

  • Behaviour Modification Plan

  • Hands-on practice: first step of the Behaviour Modificaton Plan

3) Comprehensive follow up material

  • Copy of the Intake Form, Risk Assessment, Management Plan and Behaviour Modification Plan

  • Written instructions for training protocols included within the Behaviour Modification Plan

4) One month email support

5) As needed, we recommend taking private coaching sessions for support in following the Behaviour Modification Plan.

Please Note:

  • We strongly advise forwarding all results to your veterinarian. In some cases successful medical care is necessary for success. We are happy to forward your dog’s documents to your vet for you!

  • Behaviour changes over time. As a result, Behaviour Modification Plans are valid for 6 months after which time your dog will require re-assessment through another Behaviour Consultation. Dogs enrolled in regular (monthly or more frequent) Private Coaching Sessions will be exempt from re-assessment as we will tweak the Behaviour Modification Plan as we go.
